Bike repair workshop - Cycle Revival

Going out on your bike is great. Most will just ride for enjoyment, but if you are a bit more serious then then are certain items you should always think about carrying with you. Especially on a longer outing!

  1. Tyre Levers. Always a good idea as it makes tyre removal so much easier. A puncture is a pain at the best of times – make your life easy on yourself
  2. Spare tube and patch kit. An inner tube is always a good idea – they aren’t a large item to carry but can mean carrying on with your cycle or abandoning it altogether!
  3. Bike pump. Always carry a lightweight pump in your bag. Not just for a puncture – sometimes pressure can drop and your ride will be more comfortable with fully inflated tyres.
  4. Multitool. An ideal cycling gadget. A multitool has everything you need to strip and re-build your bike in one tool. Lightweight and compact, they take up barely any space but can solve pretty much any mechanical problem you might have, from a loose spoke on your wheel to creaky bolts, to brakes that require adjustments. Get one and keep it in your bag.
  5. Wet Wipes. Bikes can be mucky things. From changing a tyre or sorting your chain, having a wet wipe to hand is always useful!
  6. Spare lights. It’s always wise to have a set of lights fixed to your bike – especially during autumn and winter when daylight hours are minimal. However, it’s worth carrying a spare set in your bag, too, in case your lights run out of charge halfway home.
  7. A snack. Something to give you that boost of energy to finish your bike ride. And a drink!
  8. Your mobile phone. Just in case you have a problem. Also used to track your distance.
  9. Spare cash and a credit card – don’t go out without some means of paying for anything.
  10. Bike lock. For any eventuality, a bike lock is a necessity!
