New Membership Geared Towards Cycling Commuters
British Cycling has launched a new cycle membership, specifically geared towards cycling commuters, in the hopes of getting more people cycling to work.
The new scheme will come with insurance, legal support as well as discounts at many high street shops.
This membership will apparently also give a voice to commuters, helping improve conditions for cyclists and cycle routes in British towns and cities.
British Cycling (BC) policy manager Nick Chamberlin said: “Many people are now beginning to wake up to the fact that commuting by bike is often the quickest, cheapest and most reliable transport option for their daily commute, and what’s more, in doing so they are also helping to combat air pollution and lead a healthier more active life.
“We hope that this new membership will encourage and support many more commuters to make the switch and discover these benefits for themselves.”
British Cycling will now offer four membership types – race, ride, commute and fan.
At Cycle Revival, we have always encouraged people to cycle to work. However on the many country roads and lanes in East Sussex this can sometimes prove a bit of a challenge! And with the Heathfield roads soon to be shut (where Cycle Revival is based), then perhaps this way of getting to work will be a lot more appealing to many!
