BMX Bikes
Well, I was lucky enough to be a young boy when the BMX bikes were born back in the late 70’s. That was when as a young lad I knew I needed to get back home because it was either getting dark or I was hungry!
It was the love of my BMX that really gave me the bike bug!
At our bike shop in East Sussex, where the passion about bikes 43 years later is still running high that BMX (Bicycle Moto Cross) is back and with vengeance, all the old names and some new ones too: Diamond Back, Mongoose, Huffy, We The People and Mafia. If we don’t have it then we can get it.
BMX bikes have got a whole lot better than when I rode my Diamond Back Harry Leary Turbo some 44 years ago, (that’s aged me)! Using Cro-Mo tubing and CNC machined alloy components the modern BMX bike is a lot lighter and stronger.
Being an independent bike shop in Heathfield, East Sussex, we make it our business to select the BMX bikes that meet our high standards. We only deal with bicycle brands that have history and longevity in the cycle trade. There are different types of BMX bikes on the market; there’s the dirt BMX bike with the knobbly tyres for dirt track cycle racing or there’s the more popular smooth tyre BMX bike for static bike park freestyle riding and street riding.
Some of the important specification factors the kids are looking for when it comes to the best BMX bikes are:
A high number of spokes in the bike’s wheels, 14mm hub axles, Cro-Mo tubing, a 3 piece chain-set, micro drive cassette, sealed bearings and of course great aesthetics and brand.
If you need guidance selecting the right BMX bike or terminology explained, please just give us a buzz on 01435 866118, or better still pop into our Cycle shop in Heathfield, East Sussex and you’ll understand why we’re still here after 40 years of trading.
Just take a look at our Facebook page and our Google reviews, they speak for us.
