Gravel & Adventure Bikes
The Gravel or Adventure bikes as they are sometimes referred to as are the most recent addition to the cycling family. They are for those cyclists who want to ride further and faster along both road and off-road trails. So pop into our family-run bike shop in Heathfield, East Sussex.
Mountain bikes are often too low geared and therefore no good for longer road rides, (too low gears means ones legs spin to fast at low speed, not enough high gears to get high speed). Whilst the traditional road bike is the complete opposite; too high geared.
The Gravel bikes are the type of bike you could pack up with pannier bags, frame bags and all sorts of other luggage and just ride off into the distance!
Shimano have produced the all new GRX range of equipment especially designed for the Gravel bike scene:
- Shimano GRX, with its gravel specific ergonomics, optimized gearing options, rugged reliability, and quiet and stable drivetrain.
- GRX hydraulic disc brake 11-speed STI’s give you control, modulation and power with minimal effort in all riding conditions
- Raised hood head prevents hand misalignment and slippage
- Anti-slip texture and brake lever coating gives higher braking efficiency and reduces fatigue on long rides.
So if Shimano is investing so much time and innovation in the Gravel bike it must be an exciting new bike! The Gravel bike is comfortable, swift to ride and able to accommodate most types of terrain, it’s a great all-rounder and is set to be the next big trend.
