If you’ve made the decision to purchase a Brompton Folding bike, you’ll want to have confidence in where you take it for its servicing and any repairs it might need. We here at our cycle shop in East Sussex have sold, serviced and repaired Brompton bikes for nearly 30 years. We have achieved the highest level of workshop excellence and skills that can be accredited by Brompton to their dealers. We realized early on in the importance of workshop investment, not just in the knowledge, in the tooling also, (some of the tools are unique to Brompton and can only be purchased by a dealer once training has been taken). Don’t make the mistake of letting a non-Brompton Dealer carry out work on your Brompton bike, bodge jobs will cost more in the end!
The Brompton bike, (Electrical or conventional) is special, you can’t just let any none skilled repair shop work on it. Because of our reputation, (just look at our Google Reviews) customers will travel from South London, (probably also to avoid the London prices), Kent, West Sussex and all over East Sussex to use our workshop knowing that their beloved Brompton will be taken care of to the highest standards.
Of course there is now the Electric Brompton Folding Bike, we have taken the option to stock these wonderful bikes and along with the selling we have equipped our cycle workshop with all the tools, knowledge and computer software to keep your Brompton Electric bike running smoothly and efficiently for many years service.
Brompton will only allow a fully trained, (by Brompton in house) technicians have access to the very specialist Brompton tooling, computer software and spares to work on their bikes. The Electric Brompton has been designed in collaboration with Williams from F1 racing, so cutting edge is putting it mildly.
We have two technicians in our workshop, (Paul AKA super Geek when it comes to cutting edge innovation and technology improvements/advancements) who has gained knowledge by completing an in house ongoing apprenticeship with us, as well as off-site college-based learning. Paul has been with us over 15 years and is super knowledgeable, although not as handsome as me!
Then there’s me, Matt been in the cycle trade since I was 10 and I’m knocking on now! I gained a lot of my skills the old fashioned way; working in top-end shops, being trained up to do wheel building by a wheel building master and then spending time touring with a racing team as a road technician. With the two of us we make up a strong, knowledgeable team.
The Brompton bike can be re built time after time as things wear out or break, there is nothing that can’t be replaced or repaired. The Brompton bike is used often day in day out in all weathers, so keeping on top of repairs is wise and a regular service can keep your Brompton running sweet, each time we see your bike, we’ll carry out any agreed work but also advise on any work that might need addressing in the future so you’ll never be caught out.
No job to small or too big, we can service your Brompton in one of two ways:
Full external service, or a complete strip-down deep clean and re-build.
We can replace any of the hinge pivot pins, (too tight no problem, too loose no problem) new rear swing arm pivot bushes needed, no problem.
We’ve not survived here for 40 years for no good reason!!
