Electric Road Bikes
On-road electric bikes are not intended for off-road riding, (maybe very light depending on the bike style, maybe it has front suspension forks) they are for the regular road commuter, or someone who intends to only use it around the country lanes of which there are many pretty ones around here in East Sussex, or possibly the Cuckoo Trail here in Heathfield!
As I’ve hinted at, some of these bikes can do very light off road but guidance should be sought on this.
There are things to take into account when deciding on what bike is right for you, such as; all electric bikes are governed to 15.5mph, one can of course ride faster than this but the motor cuts off at 15.5mph, so if you are a rider that rides at a faster average speed than 15.5mph the motor will not assist you, and if you hover around the 15mph the motor will cut in and out; below 15.5mph it will be assisting you but as soon as you go above it will cut off leaving you repeatedly with and then without assistance, annoying, there are ways to address this!
There are many different styles of Road Electric bikes: bikes that are efficient and fast for rapid rides, then there are the more upright sitting bikes that are for leisure pleasure riding, they are available in different wheel sizes and on drop or straight handle bars. Wheel size, tyre tread , handle bar shape, motor type, battery position and gear ratio are all things one needs to take into account.
