Touring Bikes
We hold the touring bike market close to our hearts as it was a large part of our portfolio when we started our bike shop here in East Sussex over 40 years ago. So we’re glad to see and include them in our line up today. With some of the same names and types of bikes that we were selling back then. It doesn’t mean we haven’t kept up with the times. It’s just that the touring bike’s equipment might have changed but the aesthetics and geometry really has stayed true to its roots.
The skinny steel, (Cro-Mo) tubing is still popular with the tourist cyclist because it rides sturdy and is very strong but still fairly light. The touring bike is of course mainly for the road but because of its more relaxed geometry and sturdy equipment will cover light off-road, (canal footpaths for instance). We do cover the more off road type bikes under the Hybrid bikes in the main menu if the off-road adventure is more what you’re looking for!

If it’s panniers, tents, bar bags and map holder adventure you’re looking for then maybe we can guide you through the confusing maze of bike types and help you get the right bike. Feel free to click on the logo below to see the current touring bikes in the manufacturer’s range. When it comes to the touring bike Dawes are the main manufacturer that we stock at our bike shop in Heathfield, East Sussex. Don’t forget we have over 400 bikes in stock at our shop!
Dawes is one of the oldest and best British manufacturers still making the proper Touring bike, it’s a trusted name.
