Race Bikes
Road bikes are another confusing sector. Here we talk about bikes that are for the road only, for fast and competitive riding.
At least the racing road bikes only come in drop bars, (we think)!!
We cover all types of bikes here at Cycle Revival, our independent bike shop in Heathfield, East Sussex.
There is the Endurance road bike and this we talk about in the Leisure Road bike section. However, we have included it below in the links because it sort of crosses over from Leisure to Race.
Different styles
Then we move onto the more competitive styles of road bikes:
Road Race – Fast responsive and efficient but with a more neutral sitting position. This would be for the more weekend fast club rider or the sort of rider that might use it for time trial use.
Road Performance – A more profiled heads down sitting position with a shorter frame geometry, (compact) for club time trialling and light road racing. Could also be used for triathlons for the slightly less serious riders!
Road Competition road bikes – Specialist bikes, such as profiled time trial bikes, triathlon bikes, Iron man bikes; all of these are specialist bikes that are designed entirely to be ridden it their chosen category. To buy one of these bikes to ride around the country lanes of Sussex would be a little bit like buying a Ferrari to do the weekly shopping in, (there are other cars available)!
When it comes to an off the peg purchase you just can’t beat the build quality and value for money that comes from the biggest bike manufacturer in the world that is Giant, (no pun intended). It’s one of the biggest brands we stock and sell at our cycle shop here in East Sussex. We do sell other bikes in these categories but Giant is our No.1 choice.
The bike images shown on this page are examples of road bikes we stock (we have in total over 400 bikes in stock!), many more makes and models, ranging in price from around £300 upwards, here at Cycle Revival in Heathfield, East Sussex.
We also service and repair all makes of bikes including servicing and updating Shimano Di2. Feel free to call us on 01435 866118.
